Herry Koo grew up in Java and Bali, Indonesia. In the spring of 2008, Herry began his studies at School of Visual Arts in New York City. Originally trained in Graphic Design, Herry eventually found his way to Motion Graphics. After earning his BFA degree from SVA, Herry worked at Broadcast studio then moved into the freelance world for a few years. Currently, Herry works at an ecommerce company as a graphic designer while simultaneously taking on many other responsibilities that come with operating a small business.   

 

Creating art has been a comforting practice for Herry since he was young. He felt if art was a person they would be a guardian that protects or guides him through the challenging situations of his early life. During these years, he produced drawings, ornamental crafts etc for either fun, gift or for profit. 

 

As Herry grew up, he stopped making those things but recently reconnected with where he left off. In a way, it feels like a full circle experience for Herry to be doing what he always loved.
